For kids with special needs and emotionally intense kids, advocacy is not just an option, but a necessity. But let\'s not sugarcoat it - advocating for your own children can be tough. It disrupts the system and may result in judgment from others. However, that shouldn\'t stop us from fighting for what our kids needs. To begin advocating, it\'s crucial to first know our children\'s needs and strengths. This means taking the time for observation and reflection, getting to the core of who they are and what makes them tick.Understanding our legal rights, as well as our child\'s legal rights in the healthcare, school, or daycare system, is another vital aspect of successful advocacy. Knowing the system and advocating within its boundaries can make a significant impact on our child\'s journey.Finding the right approach to expressing our child\'s needs is crucial. We discuss the importance of doing so in a non-confrontational way, taking into consideration the perspectives and limitations of others. It\'s a delicate balance of advocating fiercely and respectfully. So, join us in this episode as we explore the world of advocating for our kids. Together, we can create a supportive and nurturing environment where our children can thrive.
