It has become a very big movement in the USA and internationally in the media because it has been too long where film and TV industry (where most of it is taxpayer supported in our province) have not done their part to have society properly reflected on the big screen where the public can see themselves. Our Quebec province is probably the only place in North America that is the most backward and we as a society have to demand better and get the right people in leadership roles for a better society and to be able to remain competitive with the many democratic countries striving for that leadership role in the film/TV industry.

In our episode 10, we talk about taxpayer funded organization Sodec's Cour ecrire ton court (which translates as run to write your short). I will share my previous experience with this contest and look at the details of it. How fair of a chance did I really have as a multi ethnic with an English screenplay and share just how subjective analyzing a screenplay can be.

We have waiting for years for someone in the industry to talk about these things and Sodec in an honest and authentic way in an organization that tells people to go to other organizations to get information about it. 

We also look at the fresh and cool comedy webseries Fun with French. My Zensa Media team and I have waited for years to see awesome talent in the multi cultural communities (bill 101 kids) on major network TV shows.  We didn't' see any in recent years that made us feel truly represented,  so we present to you a bilingual comedy series that shows multi ethnics speaking excellent French. Into-Canadian, Greek, Portuguese, Italian alongside francophones and anglophones. A true and authentic representation of Montreal. Filming in Montreal, Los Angeles, Toronto and Florida.

Our Episode 6 features hot topics in North America, with an emphasis on Montreal. 

We look at some of the outdated policies at Sodec (one of the largest tax payer funded arts grants in Canada). It's mandate is to serve the province of Quebec but for years it is known to be serving a small portion of the industry at the expense of the rest of it. Charging steep admin fees like 350$ simply to apply for a feature film grant. This while 80% goes to French media and less than 20% capped for Anglo, multi lingual and Indigenous talent because of a codified aw since 1994. 

More unfair bureaucracy is seen with the L.A. Blvd. screenwriting program in L.A. that looked too good to be true. And upon looking into it further, this opportunity, mentioned in the Sodec newsletter, is a huge disappointment. When it looks too good to be true, unfortunately often it is the case and this. Why do we allow them to use our tax money for the benefit of a few at our expense. Inform yourself and speak out.

He made headlines in the news with his petition for the Lionel Groulx metro station's name to be changed to the Oscar Peterson station. From then on, he has been featured on CBC, CTV, CityNews and even Radio Canada during the covid pandemic and during the nurses strike. 

In our podcast episode (part 1), Naveed gives us the inside scoop of what is going on behind the scenes with the nurses strike in Quebec who are looking for a more fair salary and working conditions. Naveed will also share what his personal experience is in the Quebec healthcare system and share just how important empathy is in his profession. 

Naveed is truly a remarkable human being and probably one of the most well spoken and empathetic people I have met. He is a true inspiration and Montreal's healthcare system is very lucky to have him.
