July 29 is the annual siblings combined feast day of Saints Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Luke’s Gospel 10:38-42 tells the tale of Jesus visiting the home of an unnamed village where Martha welcomes him, while her sister Mary sits at Jesus' feet to listen to his teaching. Martha complains about doing all the work alone, and Jesus gently corrects her, stating that Mary has chosen the better part. Mary and Martha are mentioned in the Gospel of Luke, but their brother Lazarus is not. HJSe29.
